The Sacred and the Irreverent

Fourteen-year-old Kai Vasren is living proof of something the world insists is impossible: gods cannot have children. Born with divine power that her human body cannot withstand, she has spent most of her life being protected from a world she has barely experienced. After waking from a three-month coma, Kai decides she would rather spend whatever time she has left at Edenvale, an elite academy for powerful beings. There, friendships, rivalries, and unfamiliar ways of thinking begin to complicate everything she has been taught. As her condition worsens and her abilities become increasingly difficult to conceal, Kai finds herself at the center of questions that reach far beyond her own existence, including whether the gods deserve the authority they have always been granted.
